Evaluation of storyboard animatic.

The process of editing our storyboard is very helpful towards our overall video. It gives us an idea of what the shots are going to look like and therefore with the music and all of it cut together we can see if it is going to work. This means we can now address any problems before we get onto editing our actual video after the shoot where we may not be able to sort these issues out.

After watching the finished cut, I feel like we have portrayed our idea very clearly and the video, when put together, works very well. We have got a good amount of the performance going on which I feel is important to get across our star image.

However, I feel maybe some of the shots are a bit slow and may need to be speeded up. The first shot for example seems like it is too slow but it is actually a slow tracking shot from the feet up so I think that one will work but there are some other shots throughout which may need to be speeded up when we do the real thing.

Overall, I think our video is going to work out well and I am happy with the cut of our storyboard animatic, especially since it allowed us to re-familiarise ourselves with editing before our shoot.

Editing Storyboard animation together.

We edited our storyboard animation together quite quickly therefore we decided to check over it a few times to see if everything was where it should be. We realised that there were a few shots that we too long and therefore we shortened them to where we thought they should be and checked it over. The screen videos above and below show us editing our shots and making them shorter or putting them in the right place and checking it over.

Storyboarding

On friday we filmed our storyboards in class.

We set up the camera infront of a plain white wall. One persons job was to stick up the storyboards on the wall, page by page, whilst another person filmed each shot for 10 seconds. The other two people were either helping with the camera or helping sort out the storyboards. We then all changed around so that everybody had a go on the camera.

We now have all of our shots filmed and so during the next week will be editing the shots of the storyboard to the song 'Feeling Good' so we can get a feel of what our music video is going to look like. These videos of the storyboards should therefore be up on my blog soon.

Change of idea.

After a lot of discussing, talking and working.. oh and storyboarding, last week we decided to change our idea. We have been working on this idea for a week now and have decided that it is for definite this time.

We have still kept the same song of 'Feeling Good' by Muse because it had a similar story line but had a a lot more to do performance wise, as in shots of the the band and instruments was a far larger range than in the Savage garden song where it was only a piano and violin.

We at this point were still going along with the idea of domestic violence, but decided that again maybe it was slightly to cliche to simply have a wife and husband or boyfriend and girlfriend having relationship problems and the male beating the female. So we decided to take it a step further and create it more into an S&M relationship. Such as in one part of the narative he is hanging her but simultaniously be kissing up her legs and have reaction shots of her face, to show she is enjoying it.

Feedback

Your response is detailed and through and you have been creative with your blogs, I particularly like the use of headings with good layout and designYou have a secure knowledge and understanding of who you want your artist to be signed to; perhaps you could link this further by stressing the advantages that your artist has signed to the particular record label.  Your clearly identify your target audience and have profiled them well, but could develop this with the use of VALS.  Good research into CD covers and you have a wide range of examples, and this would be developed further if you can link the real product to how it will influence your own designs.
